BASIC DESIGN

Project 1: Form, Void, Space

Form, void, space is an assignment where we were exposed to learn

and study the relationship between theform, void & space to the human

being.

Using choices of cubes and cuboids, the task was to design a sculpture to see the relationship of the form, the void as well as the space to the

human being that would move around it. The use of a sphere will

create a denitive focus point to the sculpture.

Project 2: Translation (Curiousity)

The ‘Translation’ is a design project assigned for us to learn how to potray the emotion that we would want the human being to feel.

The human being can have many different emotions or feeling through their senses- from what they see, feel, smell, taste & hear. Through design of an architecture, we can also send the right message we want for the people.

Curiousity was the emotion selected for this assignment. Through various progression of design, through the form, its void and its space created by it, to be able to potray the proper emotion was the task here.

Project 3: Shelter

In the shelter assignment, we were given a site near the Putrajaya Mosque to work on designing a shelter that would blend to the existing architecture and serve the needs of the people there at the same time.

The approach to the design was mainly to serve as a shelter- A place giving temporary protection from bad weather or danger. Within a

given area, I made an approach to use a water surface to build on.

This is to cool down the temperature around the shelter during hot weather.

ARCHITECTURE DESIGN 1

Project 1: Watchtower

For the watchtower assignment, we were given any location to design it

on, required its a forest for tourist to have a sightseeing on.

Using the concept of Bubu- The traditional object used to trap fishes in
the river, the watchtower is designed using a treated bamboo that would
bend together & combined using a metal connector. Using a rope at each
connector covers it as if its supported by the rope.

At the top of the tower at the observatory area, the shelter above is
design to be used not just for the people but also a habitat for the birds
at the same time. This way, the watchtower would serve not just for the people but for the nature as well.

Project 2: Compact Living

Compact living is an assignment where we are to provide the basic living area needed by a human being to live in a house. Provided with only 15 square metres, our task is to create a living & dining area, sleeping & study area as well as a bathroom.

The approach to the design is to categorized & combined the spaces
that can combined together to serve in one living area.

Divided into three areas, the living & dining area, the study & sleeping area
as well as bathroom to serve the daily use of the human being. The design is to take these three areas and bridge it together in the middle to
enable access from one another.

Use of skyroof enables natural lighting during the day for all the rooms which enables the user to save energy consumption.

Project 3: Bungalow House

The task given to us is to design a house for a family of 6 person- 2 career parents, 3 childrens and a maid. For this project, we were given a specic site at a slopy surface near Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

The design approach was to build an architecture in respect to the sloppy
terrain which became the challenge of this assignment.

In order to do this, each floor is stacked like a stairway supported by columns that goes all the way to the ground. Unlike the method of excavating theland, this would do less damage to the soil.

The use of natural lighthing is used on each floor to maximize the electricity savings during the day. At the same time, these windows used to do so can be opened to provide ventilation in & out of the building.

The windows are all angled to the panorama view of the city of Kuala
Lumpur.
